My work is with adolescents and adults suffering from anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and relationship issues.
There is a tendency to think of a therapist as an expert and someone who can fix what is broken in you. However, most of what we do in the therapy is collaborating so you can realize what you already know and to help you rediscover your innate power. I see your strengths before perceived weaknesses and remind you of them. I see my job as to help you tend the inner garden while not ignoring any weeds, but helping you address them as they come up.
We as humans seem to be programmed to see what is wrong which is likely something that early humans needed to survive. It is also a way to avoid danger and be successful in our jobs in modern life. However, wouldn’t it be nice to ignore a focus on what is wrong and savor our relationships and simple moments? After all, isn’t that what life is really made of?
My style is receptive and accepting and view myself as a partner, providing skills if and when in distress or to prevent it. These skills can provide breathing room to rediscover your power and express it. I encourage assertiveness, courage and self-confidence because attitude is everything if you want to be successful in therapy, or life in general. My background is working in different fields (hotels, insurance, IT training) and I love to travel the world. I play guitar and love coffee. I work with adults, teens and adolescents.
