Amanda Cortez

Owner, LMFT

I am passionate about providing treatment for individuals who would like to explore parent-child attachment dynamics as adults, exploration of holding self-compassion in relationships with friends, intimate partners and/or family, and who may have a history or trauma.

I work with individuals, teen, couples and family therapy. My specialities include treating depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, parent/teen conflict, mother-daughter relational dynamics, mood disorders, sleep disorders, trauma, sexual identity, bi-racial dynamics and body positivity. In therapy, I integrate whole wellness and health, build upon your strengths, work towards inspiring creativity within yourself as I believe everyone is the author of their own lives. Brainspotting, self-harm prevention, ACT, CBT/DBT, attachment dynamics, and Gottman Couples therapy are a few of the modalities I use. In addition, my passion is working with families in crisis.

Goals are specific to each individual, include building upon your strengths, personal growth, increase self-awareness, shame and self-esteem. My personal style is an integrative approach utilizing a variety of treatment modalities, uniquely tailored to each individual's needs.

When you can't control what is happening around you, challenge yourself to control the way you respond. I take a collaborative approach in your development, whether you are burnt out or struggling with the day to day, healing can be painful. If you have a specific need for support, don't hesitate to give me a call- we can discuss it.
