Amy Shashaani

MA, AMFT

I work with children, teens, and adults with anxiety, depression, trauma, self-harm, life transitions, and relational challenges. I also work with higher acuity clients, safety planning, neurodivergence, and supporting parents of neurodivergent youth. I am trained in EMDR.

I offer warm, nurturing, compassionate, and intuitive care for clients of all ages and stages of life who may be experiencing symptoms of trauma, anxiety, general life stress, depression, academic pressure, grief, relational or self-esteem challenges. I also support clients seeking trauma processing through EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy. My therapeutic style is empathetic, non-judgmental, collaborative and client-centered, emphasizing partnership and empowerment to work together toward client goals. I provide a therapeutic environment that serves as a space for growth, healing, and positive transformation where clients can feel safe, supported, seen, and encouraged every step of the way. My therapeutic approach consists of CBT, DBT, family systems, mindfulness, grounding, coping skills, trauma-informed, attachment and strengths-based modalities.

I hold my certificate of completion in EMDR training from the EMDRIA Advanced Education Institute and is also trained in working with grieving children. I hold a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Touro University Worldwide. My graduate traineeship included providing a mixture of in-person and virtual care to children, teens, couples, families, and individuals of various backgrounds. Following graduation, I continued to develop my skills as a clinician working in the school-based setting where I provided parental support and therapy services for teens experiencing academic stress, social, performance -related, and general anxiety, depression, family related challenges, and those dealing with perfectionism. I consider it an honor and privilege to be a part of her clients’ journeys of growth, exploration, and healing.
