Katie Harvey
MA, ASW
I am passionate about supporting adults and children facing grief and loss, anxiety, and life transitions. My approach is client-centered, trauma informed, and strengths-based.
My name is Katie and I am an associate clinical social worker with experience in older adults with severe mental illnesses, dementia care, and veterans facing substance abuse and co-occurring PTSD and self-esteem issues. I also worked for two years as a hospice social worker. In my work in hospice, I worked with individuals and families facing anticipatory grief, loss, health anxiety, and chronic illnesses. I have also volunteered with Camp Erin, a grief camp for children and teens. I have a background in music and am a Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional, and am a strong believer in the power of using creativity in the therapeutic space.
I am passionate about working with individuals of all age groups, and supporting people facing depression, anxiety, trauma, anticipatory grief, and loss. I have experience working with LGBTQIA+ populations, individuals with a variety of spiritual and religious backgrounds, individuals with cognitive impairments and dementia, and folx with disabilities. I work with my clients to create a therapeutic environment that is trauma-informed, safe, and accepting. I believe that therapy should be client-driven and catered to the specific needs and experiences of the individual. My framework is derived from principles of CBT, DBT, and a strengths-based approach. I look forward to walking alongside each client on their unique journey towards a better understanding of themselves, their needs, and their strengths.
