Kennedy Brooks
Professional Counselor Associate
I work with children, teens, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationships, identity development, and everyday stressors.
I use a person-centered, relational, and experiential approach that incorporates ecotherapy and mindfulness to help clients feel grounded, supported, and more connected to themselves, others, and the natural world.
I believe therapy is a collaborative process that emphasizes each person’s unique experiences, culture, strengths, and goals. I work to create a warm and supportive environment where clients can explore emotions, develop coping skills, strengthen relationships, and build confidence. I incorporate curiosity, creativity, and interactive activities to help minor clients express and process emotions in developmentally appropriate ways. I foster a space for authenticity, self-reflection, relationship building, and navigating life’s transitions with greater clarity and intention.
My passion for ecotherapy developed through years of working with people and animals outdoors. Before becoming a counselor, I guided people on horseback in the Wyoming mountains and worked at a therapeutic equestrian center in Beaverton. These experiences shaped my belief in the healing potential of connection. While earning my master’s degree at Lewis & Clark College, I completed ecotherapy certification training and interned at The Center at Heron Hill. There, I supported minors and adults through nature-based experiences involving walk-and-talk therapy, animals and equine-assisted therapy, and outdoor connection and reflection. I integrate ecotherapy principles into my counseling work when appropriate, inviting nature to become part of the therapeutic process and a source of grounding, curiosity, connection, and healing, including walk-and-talk sessions.
