Kimberly Kapelson
MA, LCSW
I work with adolescents ages 14 and older and adults navigating trauma, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and life transitions.
I offer a soft place to land—a warm, collaborative space to build a more compassionate relationship with yourself.
You may find yourself understanding your patterns while still feeling caught in them, or spending so much energy getting through the day that it’s difficult to know what you need. I offer space to slow down, listen inwardly, and get curious about the ways you’ve learned to cope. My experience includes supporting adolescents and adults in partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient settings, with a focus on eating disorders, complex trauma, and mood and anxiety concerns. I honor the nuances of your experiences and the goals you bring to therapy, shaping our work around what matters to you.
My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and integrative, with attention to the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and bodily experiences. I draw from IFS-informed parts work, Brainspotting, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)–informed skills. Together, we can explore how past experiences shape the present, process complex emotions, and develop tools for grounding, boundaries, and self-compassion. Central to our work is establishing or rebuilding a sense of safety within yourself, in the therapeutic relationship, and in your connections with others.
I see you as the expert on your own life. Together, we’ll draw on your existing strengths and inner wisdom while building the support and skills that help you heal. With warmth, curiosity, and room for humor, we’ll move at a pace that respects your readiness and supports your goals.
