Lauryn Cartagine

MA, APCC

I work with adolescents, young adults, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma-related concerns, and attachment wounds.

I am especially passionate about supporting people who are navigating difficult life transitions, exploring questions of self-identity, or are struggling with longstanding patterns of self-criticism.

Many people carry an inner critical voice shaped by painful past experiences and internalized messages about who we are “supposed” to be. When that voice becomes too loud, it can affect our mental and physical wellbeing, which can make it difficult to maintain positive relationships with ourselves and with others. Over time, self-criticism can lead us to disconnect from who we truly are, and can leave us feeling anxious, depressed, and isolated.

I believe healing begins when we learn to meet ourselves with curiosity, understanding, and compassion rather than with criticism or judgement. In therapy, we can work together to explore the experiences, beliefs, and patterns in your life that have shaped your sense of self, helping you reconnect with what feels authentic and meaningful to you. My hope is that through our work together, you will be able to establish safety within yourself, feel more confident in who you are, and become more empowered to communicate your needs and build supportive and safe relationships with others.

My approach to therapy is relational and grounded in the belief that meaningful change happens within safe, trusting relationships, both within ourselves and with others. I often integrate other modalities into my therapy work to help you reach your individualized goals. Some of the approaches I gravitate towards include Socratic questioning, attachment-based therapy, and cognitive and behavioral approaches such as CBT or DBT to support you in drawing the connections between thoughts, feelings, and patterns of behavior. I strive to create a space where you feel accepted exactly as you are, and I welcome you to show up honestly and authentically, even when things feel messy or uncertain. My hope is that our work together can help you move toward a life that feels more authentic, connected, and aligned with who you truly are.
