Marcelo Ortiz
MA, ASW
I work with children, teens, adults, families, and couples who are struggling with depression, anxiety, neurodivergence, and feeling stuck. I also provide services in Spanish.
Welcome! I’m Marcelo. I’m an associate social worker (ASW) working under the supervision of Ryan Thompson, LCSW. I provide therapy for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, and I offer services in English and Spanish. I’m so glad you’ve made it here.
Therapy with me is a place to grow. Here’s the secret: that process happens automatically. But obstacles get in the way, which is where I come in. During our first meeting, you and I will discuss which direction you want to grow, and what’s stopping you from doing the growing, and voilà - by the end of day one, our personalized treatment plan for you is already coming into focus.
Previously, I’ve provided therapy to kindergarteners, grade schoolers, middle schoolers, high schoolers, young adults, adults, and older adults. So, no matter what you’re going through right now, rest assured that it’s on the table, I’ve probably heard it before, and there’s most likely a ton of research on the topic that, who knows, might just be incredibly useful to you at this point in your growing journey.
So if that sounds like a chance you’re willing to take, I encourage you to reach out and see what kind of work we can do together. You are the expert on you, and I’m an expert on mental health, and together, it’s you and me versus those obstacles that are holding you back. I look forward to doing some amazing work with you.
My theoretical approach to therapy draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Why not just one? Because I tailor my sessions to accommodate the biological-, neurological-, spiritual-, gender-, sexual orientation-, personality-, age- (play therapy!), and culture-specific needs of every client I sit down with. This is an open conversation I’m happy to discuss with you explicitly. If you happen to know a little about, say, CBT, and would like our sessions to include therapeutic techniques from that specific modality, be assured I will come prepared. In the end, you and I will decide which approach best suits your symptoms, based on the research behind it.
