Theresa Brinkman

MA, AMFT

I support children, teens, young adults, adults, and parents navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, acculturation stress, identity, and self-worth.

I work with professionals, parents, and adolescents who carry high responsibility and hold high standards, yet may feel emotionally stretched, depleted, or disconnected despite outward success. I specialize in supporting women and adolescents through periods of transition, including career change or advancement, parenthood, identity development, and major life decisions. These transitions often bring anxiety, self-doubt, or a sense of losing direction, and our work focuses on clarifying values and developing a sustainable, purpose-driven way forward.

My therapeutic approach is collaborative and emotionally attuned, integrating psychodynamic and attachment-based perspectives with evidence-based modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Therapy is tailored to each client’s goals, balancing insight, reflection, and practical strategies that support lasting change.

I am a Vietnamese–Filipino American woman and first-generation college graduate with over 15 years of experience as a developmental psychologist and Human Resources Professional. My lived experience deeply informs my culturally responsive, inclusive approach, especially with clients exploring identity, acculturation, and intergenerational expectations. I strive to create a grounded, respectful, and nonjudgmental space for meaningful therapeutic work, and I also believe there’s room for laughter and moments of lightness—when and if you want—to help carry some of the heavier material.
