Vanessa Cortes Ramirez

MA, ASW

I treat children, teens, young adults, parents, and families struggling with mood disorders, life transitions, and family and relationship issues. I provide services in English and Spanish.

I am an Associate Clinical Social Worker currently working towards my hours of licensure. I have worked at different non-profit organizations all over the Bay Area serving children, youth, their parents, and young adults. I have experience working within family systems at different capacities in community, school-based, and outpatient settings. My background in global studies and social work frames my approach in therapy and I emphasize the understanding that sociocultural factors are a part of everyday experiences and challenges that can affect our mental health. I am passionate about being able to work with people that may be bicultural and/or bilingual and who may be experiencing cultural conflicts that affect their social functioning and their overall mental health. I also provide therapy services in English and Spanish.

I utilize an eclectic approach and my practice modalities include various evidence based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Strategic Family Therapy. I believe in meeting patients where they are at and highlighting their existing strengths. Our work together will consist of us collaborating on treatment goals, highlighting your progress and strengths, navigating possible barriers, and increasing insight and skills to find more effective ways of coping through the mental health challenges you may be experiencing. I value our therapeutic relationship and honor your voice and feedback while working together as a team. I am honored and invested in your path towards growth and wellness, and I look forward to supporting you through your healing journey.
